A work built on dualities.
InsaneSane – Semeli Tagara
Fine Records
Semeli Tagara is a Thessaloniki born composer, performer, and producer whose music moves fluidly between jazz, electronic, classical, and alternative structures. With a background in Music Therapy and a practice rooted in improvisation, she creates genre-defying soundscapes where horns, strings, synthesizers, piano, samples, and voice coexist seamlessly. Her latest album, InsaneSane, is released under her label, Fine Records.
Our brief was to define the visual language and overall branding for InsaneSane. That included art direction, album design & packaging, photoshoot, and creating a publication (book) to accompany the LP a crafted
object that carries not only the music but the story behind its making.
We saw InsaneSane as more than an album: the title itself is a conceptual framework a coded typography, a symbolic rhythm, a philosophy of embracing contradiction rather than linear narratives. Visually and structurally, we wanted every element to echo the music’s tension: fragmentation vs cohesion, silence vs density, disorder vs structure. The identity should feel as immersive and layered as the sound.
We developed a visual identity deeply rooted in duality and paradox, transforming the album title into a typographic system that acts both as sign and pattern.
The album packaging was designed not merely to contain, but to embody the interplay between chaos and structure, serving as a physical extension of Semeli’s sonic world. Our photoshoot captured the transitionary states in her work — moments where clarity emerges through fragmentation.
And with the companion publication, the LP becomes part of a narrative object: readers and listeners are drawn into the process, the evolution, the contradictions that shaped InsaneSane.
